Orlando International Airports’ new Terminal C opened on September 20th, 2022, and its leaders are already moving forward on its future growth according to an article by Richard Bilbao of the Orlando Business Journal.
The OIA is the seventh largest hub in the world and is expected to report 50 million passengers for 2022, and will likely surpass that in 2023. According to a Kayak.com report, domestic and international flight searches are up 25% for domestic flights and 64% for International for 2023. OIA will finalize its ten-year strategic plan this year which will be separated into three phases and include a precise timeline. Phase two of Terminal C expansion is expected to take a few years to complete and include 15 additional gates on the north side of the new $2.8B terminal which opened last year. The expansion is expected to generate $41B in local economic impact through accommodating more visitors and customer traffic which will boost local hotels, restaurants, shops, and other businesses.
